F.A.Q.
Who, What, Where, When, How and Why!
Q: What is a Conclave?
A: For new Arrowmen and for those that have never attended, a Conclave is a gathering of Lodges from the same Section (often a large geographic region). Upwards of 300 or more Arrowmen converge on a single location. This year, Section NE-5A Conclave will be hosted by Japeechen Lodge at Joseph A. Citta Scout Reservation.
During the gathering, a great many events will take place. There will be so much happening that you won't be able to see or do it all (but we encourage you to try). While we can't list them all because some of the itinerary is still being decided, we'll try for a partial list here:
-
Sports

- Games
- Training Sessions
- Patch Auction and Trading
- Indian Dance Competitions
- Ceremonies Team Competitions
- And many more special and memorable events
Q: How do I sign up for Conclave?
A: Each Brother interested in attending Conclave should contact their home Lodge. For Japeechen Lodge, we've conveniently added our annual form to the documents page. Other lodges are invited to send us their forms to post on the page as well, just please include submission instructions so that the form and payment go to the correct location.
Q: Once I'm signed up, do I have to do anything else?
A: You'll have to do some preparation before attending Conclave, but the most important follow-up step to actually registering with your Lodge is signing up for events! You can use this convenient form on this website to do so.
Q: Where is Joseph A. Citta Scout Reservation?
A: JACSR is located in the Brookville section of Barnegat, NJ. The address is 229 Brookville Road, Barnegat, NJ. Online maps offer decent directions, however they sometimes place the entrance about a quarter of a mile south of the actual entrance to camp.
Q: What is the full schedule of Conclave events?
A: TBA
Q: Are insects a problem at JACSR?
A: They can be at times. Mosquitos can be very persistant, depending largely on weather conditions before and during the Conclave. Mosquito netting may be a necessity to sleep in comfort
We also have two types of ticks common to camp - the deer tick (the size of a pin head) and the American dog tick. Both types are disease vectors, but of the two Scouts and Scouters should be very careful of deer ticks as they are frequent carries of Lyme disease. Embedded ticks should only be removed by Conclave Medical Staff!
Lastly, occasionally chiggers can be a cause of discomfort. They are easy to avoid - stay out of grassy areas if the grass is much taller than your ankles. For all three insects, we recommend having some insect repellent with DEET in your gear. NO AEROSOLS ARE PERMITTED IN CAMP.
If you are all concerned following an encounter of the six or eight legged kind, please see the Conclave Medical Staff.
Q: What other animals can be found in Camp?
A: Southern New Jersey is home to many wonderful examples of wildlife. Deer, rabbits, squirrels, mice and more all call JACSR home. Just remember you are visiting in their home and give them the proper space and respect they deserve.
